TOWN ELECTION

Town Election Update

It was announced at the May 8th Town meeting that Darin Bartram and Conor Crimmins were the only candidates to file for the June 5, 2023, Town Election, and per Article VII, “Registration, Nominations, and Elections”, Section 710, “Conduct of Elections,” of the Town Charter, the Town will forgo a formal election, and Mr. Bartram and Mr. Crimmins will be declared elected for the term by the Board of Supervisors of Elections at the June 12, 2023, Town Meeting.

In March 2022, the Town passed a Charter Resolution that amended Section 710 of Article VII to state, “if the number of qualified candidates is not more than the number of seats to be filled, then no election will be held, and the qualified candidates shall be declared elected for the term by the Board of Supervisors of Elections at the next public meeting of the Mayor and Council.” For the first time since passing this Charter Resolution, the Town will not be holding an election as there were two qualified candidates for the two Council seats up for election. However, it is important for the Town to maintain its annual tradition of a community gathering on the first Monday in June. Please join the Mayor and Council for a meet & greet and ice cream at Town Hall on Monday, June 5, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Invite a neighbor, bring your kids and pets, all are welcome!
