TOWN ELECTION
2026 Town Election Information
The 2026 Town Election will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, 6:00pm – 9:00pm, at Kensington Town Hall.
The terms of Mayor Tracey Furman and Council Members Nate Engle and Ann Lichter are set to expire June 30, 2026. All have the option of running for re-election.
If you are interested in running for Town Council, nominations for elective office are available at Town Hall by filing a Certificate of Nomination with the Town’s Clerk-Treasurer, Susan Engels at Susan.Engels@tok.md.gov
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates for Council shall meet the following requirements:
- Must reside in the Town for at least one year preceding their election
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be qualified to be a registered voter of the Town
- Must maintain permanent residence in the Town during their term of office
Notable Deadlines:
- Candidate nominations are due Monday, May 11, 2026, by 4:00 pm.
- Please fill out the Certificate of Nomination Form and return it to Susan Engels at Town Hall prior to the deadline.
- County voter registration for the Town election closes on Monday, April 27, 2026.
- Voter registration for Town elections only closes on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 4:00 pm.
