The 32nd free Noyes StoryWalk® celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and the start of a new school year with Santiago’s Dinosaurios, written by Mariana Ríos Ramírez and illustrated by Udayana Lugo.
Families can enjoy the story on posted signs at Warner Circle Park in Kensington, MD from Saturday, September 21 to Sunday, October 20, 2024. Warner Circle Park is located at 10231 Carroll Place, right across the street from the Noyes Children’s Library in historic Kensington, MD.
Santiago’s Dinosaurios follows dinosaur-loving Santiago as he goes to his first day of school. Since Santiago is new to the United States and doesn’t speak English, he worries about how he will connect with his peers. Santiago learns that even when you don’t speak the same language, some interests—like dinosaurs—are universal. Readers learn a lot about dinosaurs as they follow Santiago’s day, in a story told with Spanish words and phrases woven into the narrative.

The Noyes Children’s Library Foundation launched its Noyes StoryWalk® program in January, 2021 as an early literacy initiative when libraries were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and continues to enable families to enjoy books together in the outdoors.
