While this winter has been a disappointment for snow enthusiasts anxiously awaiting their next snow day adventure, our mild winter has allowed the Town’s Public Works Crew get a jump start on the spring cleanup. The Crew has been busy cleaning and mulching flower beds, laying sod and grass seed, and preparing for the spring mowing season. Town Manager Sanford Daily announced his plans to retire at the end of the year at our November 18, 2019 Council Meeting. Mr. Daily joined the Town in April 2008, when former Mayor, Pete Fosselman, advocated for a professional manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Town. Council Member Duane Rollins and I attended the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department’s (KVFD) ceremony commemorating the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. A solemn annual event honoring the nearly 3,000 victims, including 343 firefighters who died in the World Trade Center, KVFD joined hundreds of other fire stations while responding to the Pentagon.
