Please join the  Kensington Historical Society for a special presentation:

Dry Oases: Local Prohibitions of Alcohol in Kensington, Damascus, and Takoma Park
A presentation by Ranjit S. Dighe, PhD

Coffee: 7:00 PM, Speaker 7:30 PM

“Dry Oases” explores the longstanding prohibitions of alcohol in Kensington, Damascus, and Takoma Park, which lasted for more than half a century after the repeal of national Prohibition in 1933.
The talk will focus on Kensington, and explain why Kensington was designated as a “permanently” dry town in 1933; why it stayed that way until the 21st century; and the factors behind the change.
